How to Install a Pressure Regulating Valve for a Boiler Burner

The installation of a pressure regulating valve for a boiler burner must be performed while the gas and power supplies are disconnected for safety. During installation, align the arrow on the valve body with the direction of gas flow and secure the connection using flanges or threaded fittings. For adjustment, connect a pressure gauge, slowly open the upstream valve, and rotate the adjustment bolt to stabilize the outlet pressure within the burner's rated operating range.

Installation Steps – Shutting Off Supplies:

Close the main gas valve and power supply to the boiler, and allow the system to cool down.

Verify Flow Direction: Check the arrow on the valve body to ensure it points toward the burner.

Clean Connections: Remove debris and oil residue from the pipe connections.

Seal and Secure: Use PTFE tape or sealing gaskets, and tighten bolts symmetrically using flanges or threaded connections.

Pressure Adjustment Steps

Connect Gauge: Attach a digital pressure gauge upstream/downstream of the valve or at the burner's pressure test port.

Slowly Introduce Gas: Slightly open the upstream manual valve; fully open it only after verifying there are no leaks at the connections.

Adjust Pressure: Remove the valve's protective cap and rotate the adjustment screw clockwise (to increase pressure) or counter-clockwise (to decrease pressure).

Lock Setting: Monitor the pressure gauge; once the pressure reaches the burner's specified level, tighten the locking nut and replace the protective cap.
