The newly launched engine possesses completely independent intellectual property rights and is designed to have a maximum power output of 64,500 kilowatts. It adopts an advanced digital intelligent control system and a flexible and efficient dual-fuel injection system, featuring excellent energy saving and emission reduction, high operating efficiency, and low maintenance costs. It has broad market prospects under the trend of green and low-carbon transformation in the shipping industry.
This engine successfully achieves a methanol substitution rate of over 95%, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 7.5% compared to traditional diesel power. Dong Jingjin, project manager of the methanol engine project at China Shipbuilding Power, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), explained that if this engine operates for 300 days a year, its carbon emission reduction is equivalent to the annual emissions of 72,000 ordinary passenger gasoline vehicles.
Thanks to the intelligent common rail injection system and low-pressure SCR exhaust gas treatment device, the main engine's thermal efficiency has increased by 1%-1.5%, setting a new energy efficiency record for similar power units. Certified jointly by eight major international classification societies, this engine model has achieved industry-leading levels in several key indicators, including combustion efficiency, emission control, and operational economy.
Notably, this engine model utilizes 5G communication technology to achieve real-time transmission and remote monitoring of engine operating data. Technical experts can use this system to provide remote technical support to customers, promptly resolving issues arising during engine operation and improving service response speed and quality.
Developed by CSSC Winterthur Engine Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC), and built by CSSC Power (Group) Co., Ltd., this engine model lays the foundation for my country to build an independent technology system for large-bore green new fuel marine low-speed engines, covering the entire chain from fuel supply and combustion control to exhaust gas treatment.
It is reported that this engine model will soon be installed on 16,000 TEU large container ships, officially entering the application stage.
