He is passionately committed to our Indian Government's 'Make in India' programme.
Can you tell me a little about yourself?
With nearly three years of expertise in the power conditioning industry, I joined the Riello UPS business in the early 1990's and started from scratch. Riello Power India now has a well-known base of over 25,000 high capacity UPS units in India and surrounding international markets.
The company started as a distribution channel, then evolved into a joint venture and finally in 2016 became a wholly owned subsidiary of RPS SpA, an Italian company that is part of the Riello Elettronica group.
Today, Riello Power India (Riello UPS) is renowned as a power protection solutions provider to numerous companies including multinational blue chip clients in Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Technology, ICT and Manufacturing as well as Aviation, Engineering, Finance Services, Education, Hospitality and more applications.
What are the key achievements of Riello Power India over the past five years?
Riello started its journey over 20 years ago, but over the past five years the company has experienced tremendous growth. By establishing a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Manesar, the company has transitioned from a trading business to a manufacturing operation, initially producing UPS solutions up to 200kVA and more recently, UPS in all ratings with all topologies, from SCR based to IGBT based UPS, transformerless to transformer based UPS and single phase to three phase UPS as well as modular UPS systems as the application requires.
Riello Power India offers the most comprehensive range of UPS systems ranging from 6kVA to 6400kVA with a strong portfolio of engineering, design, manufacturing, marketing and service resources. The company is fully committed to supporting the government's 'Make in India' initiative by meeting the high quality power requirements of all business verticals for all their mission critical applications.
Why do the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries need ups?
Today's high-tech medical, pharmaceutical and control equipment and control units are more sensitive to electrical disturbances than in the past, and they are more critical to these business-critical functions. To avoid process shutdowns, everything from data and hardware protection to test and production equipment must be protected from power outages.
Downtime of these vital devices is costly in terms of hardware failures and firmware failures, and can result in loss of goodwill, reputation and even human life in the medical field. Plus the time it takes to restart a locked device, recover a broken machine, and resume a program that was interrupted. As a result, power quality problems are now much more costly than ever before.
The time and cost of replacing equipment, as well as lost revenue due to downtime and replacement, can have a significant impact on a company's bottom line. Therefore, a well-established power protection strategy backed by an equally reliable and prudent UPS system is cost-effective insurance for the pharmaceutical and medical industries.
With our comprehensive line of transformer-based UPS systems, we take full responsibility for managing such critical and demanding applications.
Our UPS systems meet the important operating standards of high protection and reliability that are a fundamental part of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries and are supported by our 24 x 7 service policy.
What is your biggest challenge in achieving your company's goals?
UPS is an important device that serves mission-critical applications in various fields. However, many customers are unaware of this and place great importance on low cost over quality. For a quality-oriented business like ours, this is a major problem. Therefore, we must constantly educate our customers on the importance of having a reliable UPS system rather than equating a UPS to a box so that they do not lose sight of important technical aspects such as energy efficiency, safety features, criticality of application and other technical criteria.
Another problem facing the domestic industry is the proliferation of OEM/ODM low-quality and cheap imports from neighboring countries. And the barriers to entry in this industry are extremely low. As a result, we have recently seen many new players entering the market, including many smaller companies offering undervalued UPS systems. Unorganized departmental solutions are less expensive, lower quality, and less reliable, all adding significant constraints to the mix.
What are your thoughts on the COVID-19 situation in the power conditioning industry and the Indian pharmaceutical industry?
Not only has COVID19 wreaked havoc on the economy and tested the best healthcare facilities, it has also put a strain on essential services and the backbone of every sector. In India, industries most affected by COVID-19 include aviation, tourism, hotels, some manufacturing and entertainment. The impact on the power conditioning industry is relatively minor.
Despite the lockdown and slow economic activity, many industries such as FMCG, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and IT are still operating with reasonable demand to support the country. All of these industries rely heavily on UPS solutions for business continuity and optimal uptime. Therefore, the uptime and uninterrupted power supply of the power conditioning sector is critical, and more importantly, to support the efforts to combat the global pandemic.
Impact, Challenges and Opportunities of Covid 19 on Indian Pharmaceutical Industry. The coronavirus pandemic has been a blessing in disguise for the Indian pharmaceutical industry as there is a growing awareness of its necessity for any country. Although some aspects of the pharmaceutical industry have been affected, such as supply chains and imports of active pharmaceutical ingredients from other countries, Covid-19 has created some opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry, especially in India.
Does it give the power protection industry a chance to demonstrate its importance?
no doubt! During Covid 19, the importance of the power protection industry has been heightened. Most industries including but not limited to ITES and Education are working from home. Hence, their demand for power conditioning solutions has risen to many.
Also, increased investments in IT, cloud computing, data centres, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and other essential manufacturing industries aim to make India self-sufficient through various government policies like Make in India, Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat concept. Major factors driving the growth of the uninterruptible power supply system market in India.
What are the main goals you hope to achieve in the next three years?
Over the years, we have set ourselves strict corporate goals. Some of them are:
1. Increase our market share and brand awareness to make Riello Power India a company that sells more than just UPS boxes. We are more of a solution provider, thoroughly analyzing each application and recommending a tailor-made solution to maximize the benefits for our clients. Therefore, we always put our customers first.
2. Continue to invest and focus on our research and development programs and investments to further enhance our product portfolio and improve the energy efficiency of our products
3. Further expand our professional network of TEC (Technical Energy Consultants) to better help our customers achieve ideal power quality and power protection for their businesses.
