Introduction to the Principle of Burner Ignition Transformer


The main functions of the transformer are voltage transformation, impedance transformation, isolation and voltage regulation, etc. Transformers are widely used in burner automation control, and there are many types and types. Here we only introduce the application and function of ignition transformers.


The ignition transformer is mainly used in the ignition system of the burner to realize the function of automatic ignition of the burner. According to the types of transformers, the types of ignition transformers are mostly:


According to the cooling method, it is classified as natural cooling type; according to the moisture-proof method, it is classified as potting type; according to the cooling medium, it is classified as dry type; Single-phase transformers, etc...


Compared with these relatively complicated professional classification methods, the burner industry customarily divides the transformers used for burner ignition into two categories: silicon steel sheet transformers and electronic transformers. Although this classification method is not very formal, it is simple and easy to understand. . Other common names include: igniter, high pressure pack, etc.


The main components of the silicon steel sheet transformer are as follows:


1. Iron core material


The iron core materials used in transformers mainly include iron sheets, low-silicon sheets, and high-silicon sheets. Adding silicon to the steel sheets can reduce the conductivity of the steel sheets and increase the resistivity. It can reduce eddy currents and reduce losses. We usually call the silicon-added steel sheet silicon steel sheet. The quality of the silicon steel sheet used in the transformer has a great relationship. The quality of the silicon steel sheet is usually expressed by the magnetic flux density B. Generally, the B value of the black iron sheet is 6000-8000, low silicon chip is 9000-11000, high silicon chip is 12000-16000,


2. Materials commonly used for winding transformers


Enameled wire, yarn covered wire, silk covered wire, the most commonly used enameled wire. The requirements for the wire are good electrical conductivity, sufficient heat resistance of the insulating paint layer, and certain corrosion resistance. In general, it is best to use high-strength polyester enameled wire of the QZ type.


3. Insulation material


In winding transformers, insulating materials are used for the isolation between the layers of the coil frame and the isolation between the windings. The general transformer frame material can be made of phenolic cardboard, and polyester film or telephone paper can be used for isolation between layers. Yellow wax cloth can be used for isolation.


4. Impregnated material


After the transformer is wound, the last process is to impregnate the insulating varnish, which can enhance the mechanical strength of the transformer, improve the insulation performance, and prolong the service life. Generally, cresol varnish can be used as the impregnating material.


Most of the above-mentioned ignition transformers are single-phase, dry-cooled silicon steel plate transformers.




Electronic transformer is a transformer circuit developed on the basis of high-frequency electronic ballast circuit. Its working principle is very similar to that of switching power supply. It converts the pulsating current into high-frequency current through the rectifier bridge and high-frequency circuit, and then The required voltage and power are obtained by stepping down the high-frequency voltage pulse through the output transformer.


Compared with the two, the advantages of silicon steel sheet transformers are stable voltage transformation and long service life, but the disadvantages are high cost, large volume, and relatively bulky. The advantages of electronic transformers are low cost, easy to use, and more applications on small burners, but the disadvantages are short life and unstable use.
